They look beautiful, but most of them are not really lucky with their coconut palms. The problem: if the care and location are not right, they quickly get brown leaves.coco
Coconut palms are inherently quite robust. But most of those who bring the coconut palm into the house as a potted plant simply have no luck with it. Some complain of spider mites, others that the palm leaves turn brown. Both appearances that pretty much everyone will have observed on their coconut tree. However, the reason for these two problems is very simply explained.
Cause of the brown leaves
It can always happen that brown leaf tips form on the coconut palm tree, which slowly but surely spread over the entire frond. The reason for this is usually too dry air. In addition, a bought and driven coconut often does not grow in the room because it is not bright, moist and warm enough for it.
If the air in the room is now very dry, the leaves usually don't just get brown. Often spider mites also spread on the palm, which is why it is advisable to check the coconut palm every now and then for pests. So coconut palms need a lot of care.
You can do that
➤ Tip 1 - Adjust temperature:
In order to prevent brown leaves from growing in the coconut tree and to enjoy beautiful growth, you must ensure that the plant is kept in a nice warm place all year round. Even in the cold season, the prevailing temperatures should not fall below 18 degrees for the sake of the palm tree.
➤ Tip 2 - Increase humidity:
In addition, the air humidity must be very high. Around 70 to 80 percent are required here. This means that you have to spray the coconut palm every day so that there are no brown leaf tips.
➤ Tip 3 - pour properly:
Water the plant abundantly from May to September. However, you must not drown them, otherwise the leaves will also die. Then reduce the watering again from October.
➤ Tip 4 - fertilize coconut palm:
Fertilize the coconut palm in spring and summer approximately every 14 days with a suitable liquid fertilizer (preferably green plant fertilizer).
➤ Tip 5 - Repot the plant every 2 years:
It is also recommended to repot the plant every two years. Please note that the half nut must look out of the earth so that the roots in the pot have enough space.
